Jody Darden's ""Steel Horse"
Jody Darden asked Tony and K.W. of 3D Head Custom Paint to take his ideas and come up with an "Old West" theme for his bike. After looking at several of K.W.'s Photoshop comps of the design before choosing the final design. Because the base color was a custom burnt orange with metallic brown graphics, K.W. couldn't freehand airbrush the designs (except for the oil tank and the back fender) and cut back to sharpen the outlines with opaque black like he normally does on a black base. Instead he decided to have Bob Sherrod at Jim McMichael Signs cut low tack paint mask stencils from vector art K.W. created in Adobe Illustrator. Then after Tony sprayed the awesome base coat, cleared and sanded all pieces, K.W. airbrushed all the main designs. After more clear coats Tony added the cool Old West graphics in metallic brown with copper pearl tones.
